These are based on the work of Kathleen Cope Ruoss. I decided to do one in graphite pencil and one in acrylics. The acrylic piece was done some time ago and I would definitely have my trees go off my canvas at the top.

Attempted to get some depth with this one.

Painting on black surface; very effective I thought.

Orchid In The Wind

Strange title you say, but here’s the story. My name is Francine and someone told me once that the above was the meaning of my name in Japanese. I thought it was beautiful and wrote it down in my journal. The image of flowers whether they are in a vase or blowing gently in a field or garden greatly appeals to me. I just love flowers and nature. Recently I picked up my paints and brushes again, but this time it’s different. The hope is that I can learn techniques and become a better painter; maybe even be called an artist someday. The journey of learning will be the fun part. This blog will allow me see my progress and hopefully some comments and suggestions will help too.
